Introduction The Court of First Instance of the European Communities (“CFI”) adopted its long awaited judgment in the Charleroi airport case on 17 December 2008 (the “Charleroi Judgment”).1 It annulled the European Commission’s Decision of 12 February 2004 concerning advantages granted by the Walloon Region and Brussels South Charleroi Airport to the airline Ryanair in connection with its establishment in Charleroi (the “Commission’s Decision”).2
